| Marine Transportation Research Department performs research and development in pursuit of key technologies for novel-concept and environment-friendly vessels including risk analysis and design for safety, design and performance evaluation of hull forms and propulsors, new experimental techniques, flow simulation with CFD, stability analysis for intact and damaged ships, hydrodynamics and stealth for naval vessels and submarines, ice performance of ice breakers and ice class-ships. Marine transportation research department has been operating the towing tank and cavitation tunnel. The large cavitation tunnel(2008) and ice tank(2010) will be completed and in operation.
